KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB) of Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement (West) has planned a grand crackdown against the unscrupulous elements who involved in importing tyres and other automobiles accessories through unfair means.
The sources informed Customs Today that the Collector MCC Appraisement West Muhammad Saleem under the supervision of additional collector (ADC) Nayyar Shafiq has constituted a committee comprising assistant collector Usman Tariq, appraiser Sher Khan and other officials. The committee would scrutinise the clearance data of last three years or so related to the import of tyres and other automobile accessories.
It was revealed that the Collector MCC Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem has issued clear directives to the authorities concerned of the Collectorate to use all available resources in order to detect tax evasion in importation of tyres and other automobile accessories.
“Collector Muhammad Saleem has also asked the authorities concerned of AIB/R&D to accomplish the scrutiny process into the clearance of tyres/automobile accessories’ consignments in a week and also presented report in this regard”, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the AIB/R&D Branch of MCC-Appraisement (West) has already recovered millions of rupees evaded amount while detecting violation of legitimate SROs in import of steel, pharmaceutical and fabric consignments.
