PPIB issues LoIs for six 3,449MW power projects, for 5 others of 4,740MW afoot

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) has issued Letters of Interest (LOIs) for six coal-based power projects having total capacity of 3,449MW so far.

Chairing the 100th PPIB board meeting, he said, “All resources are being utilised to achieve self-sufficiency in power generation and LOIs for another five of 4,740MW are under process. Besides coal, hydel, wind, solar and nuclear resources, the government is also optimising R-LNG, which is another vital source of generating cheap electricity.”

The PPIB managing director briefed the board on coal- and hydel-based projects being handled and how they were in the process of development. He added that the standardised security packaged documents comprising of the Implementation Agreement and the Power Purchase Agreement for the coal power projects have been prepared by the PPIB.
