KARACHI: Appraisement-West Collector Muhammad Saleem has asked officials concerned to open the revenue recovery cases and to compile the importers’ clearance data of the last 25 years.

The authorities concerned of Appraisement-West are working on a special task given by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), it is learnt here.

Following the directives, Additional Collector Nayyar Shafiq held meetings with the deputy collectors and assistant collectors in this regard and asked them to open revenue recovery files and compile data of the last 25 years.

Sources said that achievement of revenue targets by the end of fiscal year 2014-15 was the apparent reason for this hectic exercise.

However, it is pertinent to mention here that no such exercise is being witnessed at Appraisement-East and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.

It may be mentioned here that Appraisement-West is already facing shortage of skill set at the officer grade of BS-19, as only three ADCs are currently working in the collectorate. The said exercise has compelled the officers and officials of the collectorate to sit late in their offices, and a majority of the officers leave their offices at around 11pm.
