Rs 5.78b arrears: Committee set up to settle matter between AJK, Gepco

SIALKOT: The federal government has formulated a committee to resolve the issue of outstanding arrears to the tune of Rs 5.78 billion, payable to the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government.

According to Gepco officials, the committee would also resolve the issue of the per unit rate of electricity between Gepco and the AJK government.

Gepco has been supplying electricity to as many 11 feeders in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) since 2007.

Despite issuance of notices time and again, the AJK government has not paid liable amount of Rs 5.78 billion for the last several years, sources said.
