BARLIN: The new generation of the Audi A8 sedan will be introduced in a couple of years as the flagship model will benefit from piloted-driving tech. According to a recent report, the flagship will be making transition from assisted to piloted-driving technology and it will adopt it from the RS7 Piloted Driving Concept.

The 2018 Audi A8 will be getting the traffic-jam pilot on board which is taking over longitudinal and lateral guidance, detecting a traffic jam on a highway at speeds between 0 and 60 km/h (37 mph). This will also allow the car to park itself but the Audi research and development boss, Ulrich Hackenberg, didn’t elaborate how these two systems will work on the new A8.

The design of the flagship model will be inspired by the ones of the Prologue Coupe and the Avant concepts and it will be “muscular and athletic and at the same time flowing and elegant”. The current generation of the model has been around since 2010 and it is produced in Germany and in Russia. This has a choice of six petrol engines and two diesel burners and it is connected to the 8-speed automatic transmission made by ZF.
