Pak e-commerce market to reach $600m by 2017: HBL introduces online payment service

KARACHI: Habib Bank Limited (HBL), in collaboration with Shpistan.pk, has introduced internet payment gateway in Pakistan.

Addressing the agreement signing ceremony, HBL Head Payment Services Faiq Sadiq said that the initiative is instrumental in creating an ecosystem that is conducive to a thriving e-commerce industry in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Shopistan.pk Chief Executive Officer Ali Aziz at said: “We will continue to offer innovation in the e-commerce payment space to our clients and customers in collaboration with HBL.”

Using HBL Internet Payment Gateway, Shopistan.pk has enabled several merchants including insurance, fashion and apparel categories offer E-commerce solutions to their customers. Shopistan.pk is considered as a strategic partner in field of E-commerce by HBL.

It is pertinent to mention that the size of Pakistan’s e-commerce market is expected to reach over $600 million by 2017 from its current size of $30 million spent on online purchases annually.
