NAB arrests two persons of Al-Barakah Investment Company over fraud

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday arrested Badshah Rehman and Naimat Khan in the garb of Islamic mode of financing, “Mudaraba”, with the name of Al-Barakah Investment Company.

The accused allegedly cheated public at large and looted approximately Rs 24 million from innocent people fraudulently, said a press release.

The persons who have any claim against Al-Barakah Investment Company are requested to submit their claims with relevant documents to NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PDA Complex, Block-III,Phase-V, Hayatabad Peshawar without any delay.

During the course of inquiry it was revealed that the accused persons invited general public in a fake investment company in the name of Al-Barakah Investment Company under the garb of “Mudarabah” and carried out import/export of different items i.e. milk packs, fabrics, fridges, sewing machines, generators, vehicles turbines and engines.

They lured general public to handover their hard earned money to them on the promise that they would be paid huge profit on their investment.

The accused after few months not only stopped paying profits but also refused to pay back original invested money of innocent people and disappeared from the scene.

It is worth mentioning here that NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received claims up to Rs 24 million against the accused so far. The accused will be produced before Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining his physical remand.
