Inland Revenue officer of BS-18 punished for misconduct

ISLAMABAD: The competent authority has imposed minor penalty of withholding of one annual increment for a period of one year on Zafar Rafiq Siddiqui, an Inland Revenue Service officer of BS-18 and posted at  Large Taxpayer Unit, Karachi, on account of his wilful absence from duty for one year.

The authority initiated inquiry against the accused officer under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline), Rules, 1973 on charge of ‘Misconduct’ and imposed the penalty laid down in sub clause (ii) of clause (a) of sub rule (1) of Rule 4 of the Government Servant (E&D) Rules, 1973.

The Secretary Revenue Division/ Chairman FBR Tariq Bajwa, being final authority in the case, after having considered all the aspects and material of the case, written defence as well as verbal submissions made by the accused officer during the personal hearing and the recommendation of the Authorized Officer, held the accused officer guilty of the charge of ‘Misconduct’. The period of his unauthorised absence of 365 days from September 01, 2012 to September 01, 2013 has treated as EOL (without pay).

Zafar Rafiq Siddiqui has a right to appeal to the Appellate Authority under Civil Servants (Appeal) Rules, 1977 within a period of 30days.
