LONDON: A rally for energy and commodity shares sent U.K. stocks up a fourth day to an all-time high.
Anglo American Plc and Rio Tinto Group added at least 2 percent. A gauge of oil and gas stocks jumped a forecast.
The FTSE 100 Index added 0.4 percent to 6,971.56 at 9:16 a.m. in London, extending its advance this week to 3.4 percent. British American Tobacco Plc, Anglo American Plc, and Meggitt Plc traded ex-dividend today, trimming about 9.5 points off the benchmark gauge. The number of shares changing hands in FTSE 100-listed stocks was 25 percent greater than the average of the past 30 days.
The FTSE All-Share Index climbed 0.4 percent today and Ireland’s ISEQ Index added 0.5 percent.
