SYDNEY: HTC has announced that it will launch its new smartphone line up HTC One M9 to Australia on March 24. According to different sources it is said that the release date of HTC One M9 will be delayed.

The new HTC One M9 will feature a brushed and polished aluminium exterior designed to resemble jewellery, a beefed-up 20-megapixel camera, and new software to recommend nearby restaurants at meal times.

“HTC delayed the release of the One M9 in Taiwan in order to apply last minute changes to the phone’s software package. The One M9’s world debut was scheduled for today, but Taiwanese customers who pre-ordered the device were told by text message that the launch would be delayed to March 20, according. That’s for the 32GB model, the 64GB model should be released by the end of the month, according to the text messages.”

Android Authority says the delay of the initial Taiwan release for the One M9 shouldn’t affect the release date elsewhere. However, others have speculated that the One M9 will indeed see a delay and might not make it to the United States until after the Samsung Galaxy S6 is released, which looks to be on April 11.

HTC’s new smartphone seems to offer a combination of what people love on the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. James Peckman from Know Your Mobile recently described what the HTC One M9 will be like.

“Leaked details suggest there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core chipset inside made up of a 2GHz quad-core Cortex A57 running alongside a 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex A53 setup. All this will be joined by 3GB of RAM as well as Cat 6 LTE connectivity. BoomSound speakers will be returning alongside Android Lollipop and HTC’s Sense 7.”

One of the big-turnoffs of 2013’s HTC One M8 was that the smartphone only had a 4 “Ultrapixel” camera, which didn’t amount to much but blurry pictures. According to Phandroid, that will all change with the HTC One M9.

“The camera walkthrough shows off some new software enhancements coming with the new One M9. Notably, the camera has been bumped up to 20MP and features a new set of filters and overlays to customize photos. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but could come in handy for those who love posting selfies to social networks.”

In terms of looks, the HTC One M9 has more going for it than the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, or the Samsung Galaxy S6. HTC desperately needs a hit with the One M9 to put its brand back into relevancy. Judging from early reports, HTC may win back a lot of consumers with the HTC One M9.
