Highlighting the successful journey of My Karachi Exhibition, Chairman Businessmen Group & Former President KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli recalled that during his tenure as President KCCI in 2004, he felt there was a need to clarify the negative perception about Karachi city, which mainly emerged due to negative projection by the media, particularly the western media.

“Thus, I decided to organize an exhibition to portray the soft and positive image of Karachi city which is the financial and economic hub of Pakistan, contributing more than 68 percent revenue to the national kitty”, Siraj Teli said, adding that the exhibition, since its initiation in 2004, has succeeded in achieving nationwide and international recognition.

He said that My Karachi Exhibition keeps on improving every year thanks to all Former KCCI Presidents of the Businessmen Group who make untiring efforts with specific focus on further improving this exhibition as compared to previous exhibitions. Consequently, it has expanded from three halls in 2004 to all six halls of Karachi Expo Center.

KCCI has been regularly organizing this exhibition without any commercial objective but with a vision to promote the positive image of Karachi and the tag line of ‘Made in Pakistan’ worldwide, he added.

Siraj Teli also appreciated the support extended by Sindh government, Governor Sindh and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in making this event successful.

He was of the view that despite internal and external problems confronting the economy, including political uncertainty and deteriorating law & order situation, the business community of Karachi remains steadfast to face the challenges and remove obstacles impeding the pace of commercial and industrial activities.

“At My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony Exhibition, domestic as well as foreign businesses will once again be participating with a view to synchronize their trades. KCCI is certainly playing a commendable role in safeguarding the interests of business community and assisting them in every way possible”, BMG Chairman opined.

President KCCI Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra commented that My Karachi exhibition 2015 will provide an excellent chance to explore true trade potential of Karachi in particular and Pakistan in general, which is home to natural beauty, traditions and cultural heritages.

“We have designed twelfth sequel of “My Karachi-Oasis of Harmony 2015″ Exhibition to expose the great potential of regional trade. We have also planned to organize an International Pavilion and have invited exhibitors from SAARC, GCC, ASEAN & EU countries”, he added.

Chairman of KCCI Special Committee for My Karachi Exhibition, Muhammad Idrees, while touching upon some of the salient features of the exhibition, informed that efforts were being made to attract maximum number of visitors and foreign exhibitors at this event. Representatives from Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Vietnam, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, China, Ukraine, and Romania have so far confirmed to participate in 12th My Karachi Exhibition 2015 whereas many other countries are also expected to take part in this event.

Muhammad Idrees further informed that for the very first time, a dedicated Lawn Fabric Pavilion was being established at My Karachi Exhibition this year in which some of the well-known brands of Pakistan will be showcasing their lawn fabrics while a fashion show will also be staged with a view to effectively highlight the work of some of the leading lawn designers who have played a commendable role in enhancing exports of this particular product to various destinations around the world.
