LONDON: Cloud cover predicted for much of the country could mean viewers can’t see the sun at all and not because of the eclipse.

The partial solar eclipse is due to arrive in a few hours, with peak viewing time being around 9.35am

It is the first major solar eclipse since 1999 but the threat of cloud cover may make it difficult to be able to see the sun at all.

The partial solar eclipse is due to arrive on this morning, with peak viewing time being around 9.35am.

The UK will have a front-row seat to witness this rare phenomenon if the weather holds off.

Those in Inverness should be ready at 9.37am and can expect 98% of the sun to be obscured.

While down in Southampton just 86% of the sun will be hidden while the phenomenon will happen a little earlier at 9.29am.

Use the interactive map to find out what you might see in your part of the UK.

But the weather is threatening to disrupt any stargazer’s plans.
