Science ship to set off from Hobart

MEXICO: THE Australian science agency’s new research vessel is preparing to embark on her maiden expert voyage, carrying world-leading technology to the Southern Ocean to conduct climate change observations.

THE CSIRO’s $120 million RV Investigator will set off from Hobart on Saturday carrying a set of deep-water moorings which will be anchored to the ocean floor to record hourly readings of temperature, salinity, acidity, biological activity, ocean currents, nutrients and atmospheric conditions.
