ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to fast-track the implementation of the Pak-China Economic Corridor (PCEC) project worth $45.6b while ensuring its equal benefits to the entire country.
A joint cooperation committee will soon hold its fourth round of talks for the purpose, sources said. Most of its work will be completed within a period of five-year.
They said CPEC was a broad-based idea, which not only covers road construction, but also projects relating to energy and infrastructure development. Under the CPEC, industrial parks and business hubs will be set up in all parts of the country. It is aimed at improving overall national economy and living standard of the people across the board.
As per the sources, the cooperation between the two countries is based on the consensus by two sides. The purpose of building CPEC is to bring benefits to all the people of the whole Pakistan, including Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Some projects in the two provinces are already under way.
