KUWAIT CITY: An Egyptian smuggler was recently arrested while unloading a truck that carried 5,916 bottles of whiskey. The alcoholic drinks were imported for a local general trading and contracting company, said security sources. Case papers indicate that Major General Abdul Hameed Al-Awadhi, the Interior Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs, were tipped off concerning the shipment. After investigations, the man was arrested while unloading the bottles, which are worth an estimated KD 500,000. A case was filed pending further investigations as police are looking to identify the persons who imported the shipment.
