Caterham introduces three new versions of Seven sports car

LONDON: Caterham, a British manufacturer of specialist lightweight sports cars, has expanded the Seven line-up recently with the addition of three new versions which are already available for order in the United Kingdom.

The model in question have been called the Seven 270, the Seven 360 and the Seven 420 and they will sit between the current entry-level Seven 160 and the range topping 620R supercharged, the most powerful production Seven to ever see daylight.

“Now, with our all-new, simplified model line-up and equipment packages, we feel we have a Seven for everyone, whether your perfect drive is a Sunday drive through the countryside or a hardcore blast around a race track”, said the Caterham Cars CEO, Graham Macdonald.

The Caterham Seven 270 is taking its power from a 1.6 liter Ford engine, with variable valve timing and a total output of 135 HP. This is being followed by the Seven 360, which is carrying a larger 2.0 liter Duratec petrol burner, also made by Ford, with 180 HP. The Seven 420 has a 2.0 liter unit, with 210 HP, and this is coming as a replacement for the Superlight R400.

Prices for the Seven 160 start from 18,995 GBP, being followed by the Seven 270 at 22,995 GBP, by the Seven 360 at 26,995 GBP and by the Seven 420, at 29,995 GBP. The range topping Seven 620 costs 49,995 GBP and it needs just 2.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to 250 km/h (155 mph).

Two new equipment packages have also been introduced for the Seven, the S Pack, bringing the 5-speed transmission, road suspension pack, 14-inch classic alloy wheels with 185/60 tires, full windscreen, side screens and hood, S key, heater, black leather seats, Momo steering wheel, choice of four paint finishes and a fully carpeted interior.

The R Pack is coming with a 5-speed transmission, a limited slip differential, sport suspension pack, lightweight flywheel, 15-inch Orcus alloy wheels with 195/45 tires, carbon fiber dashboard, composite race seats, Momo steering wheel, 4-point harness, black pack, R key, shift light, four paint finishes and uprated brake master cylinder.
