Facebook plans to launch caller & dialer ID app ‘Phone’ for Android devices

NEW YORK: Facebook is planning to release an app called ‘Phone’ for the caller ID and dialer for Android needs of the smartphone users.

The existence of this app was revealed after some Android users accidentally received a notification to install the app in Facebook for Android. As the application is still not public, the install links didn’t work, however the notification has given us some key details.

“Phone is the new app that shows you info about who’s calling and automatically blocks calls from commonly blocked numbers,” read the notification.

Facebook will most likely use a crowd-sourced database to provide the information about the phone numbers and their callers.
