Mr Green now plans to launch its services and brand in Italy during the second quarter.

The operator only intends to offer online casino games, but the approval from Italian gaming regulator AAMS means it also holds a licence for sports betting, poker and bingo.

Mikael Pawlo, chief executive officer of Mr Green, said: “The approval means that we can now offer Mr Green’s award-winning casino in the Italian market. Our hope is that also the Italians will enjoy our entertaining casino.”

Mr Green also noted that it does not expect the new operation to make a positive contribution to earnings in 2015.
