KARACHI: Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be organizing a pre-budget seminar on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in which Chairmen of trade associations and industrial zones of Karachi will be invited to give their inputs on Federal Budget 2014-15.
In a statement issued, KCCI President Abdullah Zaki said that KCCI’s seminar will be focusing on highlighting a number of issues pertaining to sales tax refunds along with problems being faced due to the Afghan Transit Trade. It will provide an opportunity to identify customs anomalies, besides exploring ways and means on how to improve Pakistan’s exports, he added.
He informed that the seminar will also suggest incentives for business community and discuss various issues pertaining to FBR. The Chamber has also advised trade associations to come up with suggestions on how to improve the ongoing energy crisis, poor law and order situation, development of industry, trade, real estate and construction sectors so that these suggestions could be forwarded to the government authorities.
Abdullah Zaki said that it will provide an opportunity to all associations to come forward and give recommendations on how to pull the economy out of ongoing crisis. “We will be focusing on compiling comprehensive budget recommendations in order to create an enabling environment for the business community as we strongly believe that only a pro-business budget can pave way for a prosperous economy”, he added.
The Chamber has requested trade associations to submit their proposals in writing so that these could be thoroughly reviewed and a comprehensive budget recommendations documents is submitted to the concerned authority at the earliest.
