MUSCAT: Oman’s MSM30 Index dropped 0.44 percent to close at 6,207.56 points and MSM Shariah Index decreased 0.48 percent to close at 973.63 points.
Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. ONIC Holding, up by 2 per cent was the top gainer, while DBIH, down by 5.59 per cent, was the top loser.
As many as 948 trades were executed in the session generating a turnover of OMR4 million with more than 15.87 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded securities, 7 advanced, 22 declined and 18 remained unchanged.
GCC and Arab Investors switched to net buyers to the tune of OMR86,000 while foreign investors were net sellers at OMR57,000 followed by Omani investors, who sold stocks amounting to OMR29,000.
Financial Index declined 0.23 percent to close at 7,586.20 points. ONIC Holding, Ominvest, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Muscat and Bank Sohar increased 2 percent, 1.73 percent, 1.22 percent, 0.79 per cent and 0.52 percent, respectively. DBIH, United Finance, Al Madina Investments, Gulf Investment Services and Al Sharqia Investments decreased 5.59 percent, 3.91 percent, 3.03 percent, 2.05 percent and 1.84 percent, respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.27 percent to end the day at 8,292.17 points. Al Jazeera Steel, up by 1.36 percent, was the only sector gainer. Al Hassan Engineering, Construction Materials, Galfar Engineering, Gulf International Chemicals and Oman Flour Mills declined by 4.88 percent, 2.78 percent, 1.42 percent, 1.16 percent and 1.05 percent, respectively.
Services Sector Index closed the session at 3,460.84 points, down by 0.43 percent. Ooredoo gained 0.56 per cent to close at OMR 0.712. Omantel, OIFC, Port Services and National Gas fell by 3.77 percent, 1.36 per cent, 0.68 percent and 0.45 percent, respectively.
