KARACHI PORT
KARACHI: Karachi Port handled 244,868 tonnes of cargo comprising 163,534 tonnes of import cargo and 81,334 tonnes of export cargo including 4,404 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
Total export cargo of 81,334 tonnes comprised of 59,793 tonnes of containerised cargo; 482 tonnes of general cargo; 3,329 tonnes of cement; and 17,730 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,404 containers comprising 2,125 containers import and 2,279 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 732 of 20’s and 634 of 40’s loaded while 125 of 20’s and nil of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 853 of 20’s and 342 of 40’s loaded containers while 42 of 20’s and 350 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
The total import cargo of 163,534 tonnes comprised of 63,371 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,527 tonnes of general cargo; 54,817 tonnes of bulk cargo; 29,724 tonnes of coal; 13,963 tonnes of DAP; 11,130 tonnes of rock phosphate; and 32,819 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
There are ten ships namely OOCL New York, Wan Hai-513, Ponente, Northern Power, Hanjin Shanghai, Kathrina-S, Beech-4, Sea Harvest, Al-Messilah and Pacific Crown carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo sailed out respectively to sea during the reported period.
There are seven vessels viz Hyundai Confidence, Kathrina-S, UASC Shuwaikh, ACE Diamond, Pacific Crown, Sea Lion and Sam Wolf carrying containers, general cargo and coal respectively currently at the berths. There are four ships namely Hyundai Confidence, ACE Diamond, Sea Lion and Butinah carrying containers, general cargo and rock phosphate respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
There are four vessels viz Northern Prelude, PAC Aris, Chem Star and Atlanta Trina carrying containers, chemicals and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz APL Sydney, Ever Pearl, Finisterre, Ploutos, MT Lahore and Lynx carrying containers, mogas, oil tanker and general cargo are due to arrive respectively on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 90,136 tonnes comprising 56,578 tonnes of import cargo and 33,558 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,266 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 56,578 tonnes includes 550 tonnes of urea and 56,028 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 33,558 tonnes of containerised cargo. There is one ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami with containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV CMA CGM Debussy and CV Fowairet carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of four vessels viz CV CMA CGM Debussy, CV Fowairet, CV Safmarine Ngami and MV Gemini Pioneer are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers and urea respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as seven ships namely CMA CGM Yardi, Inlaco Brave, Sevgi, Hellos Triumpal, Bateel, Chemroad Quest and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, wheat, general cargo, furnace oil, edible oil and diesel oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were two vessels carrying containers took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday. There are five ships namely CV CMA CGM Yardi, MV Inlaco Brave, MV Sevgi, MV Hellos Triumpal and MT Bateel with containers, wheat, general cargo and furnace oil due to arrive on Wednesday.
