HIGHGATE SPRINGS: US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Port of Highgate Springs advises members in the NEXUS trusted-traveler program to enter the United States through the commercial vehicle lane on Good, instead of the dedicated NEXUS lane during specific hours.

Directing NEXUS members to the commercial vehicle lane allows CBP the use of all passenger vehicle lanes to handle the anticipated high volume of passenger vehicles with the least delay on Good Friday.

“Customs and Border Protection recognizes that holidays are our busiest cross-border travel days,” said Ronald Stanley, CBP port director for the Port of Highgate Springs. “We are taking proactive steps to expedite traffic flow that ensures travelers encounter the shortest average wait time possible.”

The Port of Highgate Springs continuously monitors NEXUS lane usage and employs active lane management to meet traffic demands.

NEXUS currently provides more than one million members expedited processing at dedicated lanes at the border, at NEXUS kiosks at preclearance airports in Canada, and at maritime reporting locations.

Frequent cross-border travelers are encouraged to participate in the NEXUS program, which allows pre-screened, low-risk travelers to proceed with little or no delay into the United States and Canada. Travelers may apply online at the CBP Global Online Enrollment System website or the Canada Border Services Agency NEXUS website.
