NEW DELHI: Xiaomi has reportedly joined hands with mobile phone retail chain “The Mobile Store” to retail select Mi smartphones in the Indian market.

The phones will be available at the same price at which they are offered online – INR 19,999 for 16GB Mi 4 and INR 9,999 for Redmi Note 4G.

“This will be the first time that we’re getting into offline trade in India. In China, about 20-30% of total sales come from telecom operators stores while the rest comes from our online store – Mi.com,” Manu Jain, head of India operations at Xiaomi told ET.

Although Jain is saying that this is a first for Xiaomi India, it is not exactly true as the company earlier offered the Redmi Note 4G smartphone via 122 Airtel stores in 4G circles of the telecom operator.

There is no word on whether Xiaomi plans to expand the Mobile Store tie-up beyond Delhi-NCR.

ET has noted that the Mobile Store outlets will act as service centres for the Xiaomi phones and the customers will be able to get service and support.
