Finnish deficit up €0.5 billion in 4th quarter of 2014

HELSINKI: Finland’s Statistics data shows that the general government deficit in the fourth quarter of 2014 went up by €0.5 billion. Consolidated total general government revenue grew by euro 0.6 billion from the respective quarter of the previous year. The consolidated expenditure increased by euro 1.1 billion.

The difference between revenue and expenditure, that is, the deficit of general government, therefore, rose by €0.5 billion, the data show. Total revenue increased by 1.6 per cent from the previous quarter while the total expenditure grew by 1.2 per cent.

During October to December of 2014, the general government deficit (net borrowing) stood at euro 4.8 billion, as per the data derived from Statistics Finland’s statistics on general government revenue and expenditure by quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the central government’s total revenue amounted to euro 12.8 billion and total expenditure was euro 15.6 billion. Central government’s total revenue went up by 5.6 per cent from the respective quarter of the year before.

Correspondingly, total expenditure grew by 2.9 per cent. The difference between revenue and expenditure of central government went down by euro 0.2 billion.
