LAHORE: Following strong measure taken on by both India and Pakistan, bilateral trade between the two countries will certainly boost up to manifolds, thus Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will be at the forefront to facilitate the trade by playing its pivotal role in the development of necessary infrastructure at the Wagah boarder.
This was stated by LCCI president Sohail Lashari while heading a meeting on Wagah Border Trade Facilitation – Working Group.
“This is really a good development that both the countries have agreed to undertake bilateral trade 24/7 across the borders. In this context the LCCI will do its utmost to avail the opportunity fully,” Lashari said.
While talking to Customs Today exclusively, Lashari said that following the start of 24/7 trade the number of cross border visits will automatically increase at Wagah, which needs a proper system.
He said that LCCI will be preparing proposals for automation, scanning and security related issues and forward them to the ministry of commerce for its consideration in order to implement the set of rules and regulation in order to avoid inconvenience to the traders.
