Rs18.5b bailout package helps PSM start production of 2mm, 1.6mm thin-profile products

KARACHI: Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) Chief Executive Officer Major General (R) Zaheer Ahmed Khan has said that in a bid to boost sales, the mills has resumed production of thin-profile coils and hot rolled products of 2-milimetre size.

These products are used for making various forming sections, rims, pipes of various sizes, guard rails, etc. The mill is also planning to make thin-profile products of up to 1.6mm size, said an official statement.

Prior to its production the coils of same size were imported which resulted in foreign exchange and time loss. The addition of thin profile products will not only increase sales of Pakistan Steel Mills, but will also save million of dollars in foreign exchange.

It is worth mentioning here that with the help of recent bailout package of Rs18.5 billion from the government, Pakistan Steel Mills management has maintained continuous supply of best quality raw material, which has made the production of Thin Profiles possible.
