Islamabad: 524kg Chinese wine seized on Deputy Collector Dr Kokab Farooq’s orders

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Model Customs Islamabad Dr Kokab Farooq has ordered to seize Chinese wine imported under soft drink head through Islamabad Airport and fined Rs 25,000 to Chinese import and clearing agent on mis-declaration.

Deputy Collector Dr Kokab Farooq issued Order-in-Original (ONO) 52 under case 01/2015. As per details Deputy Collector of Customs Import Examination informed the Deputy Superintendent Customs AFU Islamabad that Chinese wine will be cleared as personal good on which Customs staff was appointed at PIA import shed.

On inspection of imported consignment it was revealed that one Chinese citizen MA Jian, who is the resident of House # 12 street # 12 Sector F-7 Islamabad had booked 45 cartoons of 524kg under airway bill # 784-4675-09976 and GD # 7057 through Messes Cyclone Associates. In this consignment Chinese wine and other goods were recovered, but this consignment was mis-declared as personal goods and rolled out the Customs Act 1969 under Section 16 and 32, which is punishable under Customs Act 14 and sub-section 1 and 9 of Section 156.

The consignment was seized and a notice has been issued to the importer in this regard, but before the issuance of show cause notice the superintendent has surrendered from his right of lodging appeal and issuance of show cause notice.
