Karachi: Scotland Yard arrested member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), political party, on Wednesday on suspicion of money-laundering in London.
MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said Muhammad Anwar was taken into custody by London Metropolitan police and has now been shifted to Central London Police Station for further interrogation.
“A legal team is present with Anwar at the police station,” Rizvi added.
Anwar lives in London and is associated with MQM chief Altaf Hussain for about two decades. He is a member of the MQM’s coordination committee.
On the other hand, London Metropolitan police also confirmed today the detention of a 64-year-old man from northwest London as part of an ongoing investigation into money-laundering case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain.
On June 3 2014, the London Police had nabbed Altaf Hussain from his residence in North-West London when they conducted raid MQM International Secretariat in connection with the murder of Imran Farooq, member of MQM and recovered nearly £250,000.
