ISLAMABAD: What transpired to be a unique and test case, a tax-evader dealing in food/confectionery business in Islamabad has claimed that the Federal Board of Revenue has de-registered his business without communicating and has not restored his Sales Tax Registration Number (STRN) despite repeated requests.

The Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue Islamabad found that the unit has never applied for the Sales tax de-registration with the FBR. However, the department de-registered the famous snack bar located in Super Market F-6, Islamabad without any intimation to the owner. Interestingly, the unit observed that it had repeatedly approached the FBR for restoration of the sales tax registration, but it failed to obtain the STRN for carrying out its business on a regular basis.
