WARSAW: Poland’s purchasing managers’ index PMI inched down by 0.3 points in March. The output and new orders rose at a sharp pace, albeit lower than in the first two months of 2015, with export orders growing faster thanks to a more favorable FX rate, the report reads.Employment in manufacturing rose for the 12th consecutive month.

Purchasing activity remained “robust” despite some slowdown vs. February, growing for the fifth consecutive month. The average quarterly PMI reading was the highest since Q1 2014, researchers said.

“The final batch of PMI data for Q1 underscored the Polish manufacturing sector’s strong start to 2015,” Markit economist Trevor Balchin said. “The first three months of the year marked the second-best overall performance in over four years, and output data suggest that the official annual rate of growth in manufacturing output will accelerate in March from the 6.6% pace seen in February.”
