LAHORE: Pakistan Customs seized 38 packets of cigarettes at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, while the passenger was allowed to travel.
According to sources, a passenger, intended to travel to New York via Pakistan International Airlines, was stopped by customs authorities at the airport to check his luggage.
While checking, customs officers recovered 38 packets of cigarettes of various brands form his luggage. Customs authorities seized the cigarettes, as the quantity was more than the allowed limit, after which the passenger named Naeem was allowed to travel to New York.
According to Pakistan Customs Act, 1969, a passenger can carry only 200 cigarettes or 20 cigars while going abroad.
