Customs Preventive, Customs Intelligence to launch joint operation against smuggling

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Bajwa has directed Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director General Lutfullah Virk to take stern measures against illegal trade and smuggling.

Following the direction of Chairman, DG Lutfullah visited the Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Islamabad and other collectorates chalk out a strategy to curb the menace of smuggling and illegal trade.

DG in a meeting with all chief collectors has finalized the plan regarding the operations of the staff eliminate such activities in the region.

According to strategy, Customs Intelligence and Customs preventive would conduct joint operation against the smugglers and in this regard a joint operation was launched against the Ceramic tiles smugglers in Sargodha which remained successful.

Now, customs is preparing to conduct such more operations to enhance the cooperation between staff. Customs is of the view that shortage of resources could be overcome through this joint operation strategy.

After the successful execution of the plan, it would be adopted as part of the system to overcome the smuggling and illegal trade.
