TOKYO: The U.S. dollar moved little in the upper 119 yen zone Thursday morning in Tokyo with players taking a cautious stance ahead of U.S. jobs data due this week and the Easter holiday weekend.
At noon, the dollar fetched 119.65-66 yen compared with 119.70-80 yen in New York and 119.89-90 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The euro was quoted at $1.0767-0768 and 128.83-84 yen against $1.0759-0769 and 128.85-95 yen in New York and $1.0753-0754 and 128.92-96 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
The dollar took over its sluggish tone set overnight in New York due to weaker-than-expected U.S. economic data, denting market participants’ risk appetite despite strong Tokyo stocks, dealers said.
