4m tonnes wheat at Rs1,350/40 kg: Procurement to start from 15th in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Food Secretary Dr Pervaiz Ahmed Khan, presiding over a meeting of office bearers of different farmers’ organisations, has said that wheat procurement process will start from April 15 in the province.

Dr Pervaiz said that all arrangements have been finalised for procuring 4 million tonnes of wheat at the rate of Rs1,350 per 40 kg as per the wheat procurement policy 2015-16.

He further said directions have been also issued to Food Department, Agriculture Department, banks and other relevant departments to extend full cooperation to wheat growers. He said the department would try its best in ensuing that farmers do not face any difficulty in bringing their commodity to sale points and getting gunny bags.
