NEW YORK: Range Rover has introduced a new model SVAutobiography at the New York motor show to compete its rival Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

Called the Range Rover SVAutobiography, the new model not only boasts the most power of any production Range Rover but will reportedly offer new levels of luxury for the brand too.

Customers will be able to choose from either the 405kW/680Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 or the 250kW/740Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbo diesel V8. Buyers will also be able to choose between the standard and long wheelbase variants.

But the real attention has been focused on improving the interior, even above what the company already offers on the current range-topping Autobiography. The SVAutobiography has been created by the brand’s Special Vehicle Operations division which has added more premium materials and luxuries.

“With the SVAutobiography we have taken the opportunity to optimise the Range Rover’s luxury execution and precision while delivering beautiful detailing that considerably enhances the customer’s experience of our flagship vehicle,” explained Land Rover design director, Gerry McGovern.

Changes include details such as the gear selector rotary dial and the pedals being machined from solid aluminium.

Rear occupants get chilled compartments and powered deployable tables.

The carpet mats are made from deep twist pile mohair to underline just how much attention-to-detail Range Rover is paying to luxury.

Another exclusive touch for the SVAutobiography is the optional “Event Seating” a pair of hand-crafted leather seats that can be stowed in the boot and attached to the split tailgate.

The SVAutobiography will also be able to be optioned in a unique ‘Duo-tone” paint job. The top half of the car is painted in black with customers able to choose from nine hues for the bottom half.
