NEW DELHI: Indian Police have arrested two persons in gold smuggling case who claimed to be customs officers.
The tourist was purchasing gold in a jewellery showroom recently when the duo from Rajasthan, Govind and Ritesh, accosted him and said they were customs officials and wanted to inspect the authenticity of the gold that he had purchased.
They noted his address, took the gold away and later sent back to him by courier what turned out to be fake gold. Based on the foreigner’s complaint on April 3, the Cubbon Park police tracked the duo down and booked them for cheating, fraud and impersonation.
