LONDON: Microsoft’s Outlook updates rolling out that’s desperately trying to win customers over. The latest update comes to the People section by transforming it into a proper address book. After the update the new People section displays a new unified view of all the contacts in your address book, where it previously only showed users top contacts.

There are now actions tied to contacts too, and one is able to phone or email them, map way to their current location, or see the last correspondence. In a nutshell, the new Outlook makes users do more with their contacts. It’s now easier to find a contact whenever want to start an email with the new auto search capability that suggests names from contact directory via the Global Address List search. This new tool is especially useful if one is working in a large company and is using an Exchange server.

Apart from that, now when a user searches through their email their search term is highlighted throughout the results, which is a feature that is quite similar to the one used in Microsoft Word. The new “Select All” feature allows users to perform various operations in bulk on messages which are inside a particular folder. And while the feature is iOS-only for now, Microsoft has mentioned that it will make it available on Android as well very soon.

Outlook’s embedded calendar has also gotten a serious new upgrade. The calendar can now transform to a three-day view when the user turns their handheld device to landscape mode. The new Outlook calendar also has the ability to undo bulk actions and can even permanently delete messages that are not needed.

The recent upgrades to Microsoft’s Outlook makes sense, the company has been seriously working on making its core apps more available across various platforms. With these new upgrades Microsoft has made it clear that it is interested in pushing Outlook as the all-in-one calendar and email solution.
