The upcoming launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 has invited competition among the telcos, who are trying to lure customers through attractive schemes. Telstra, the largest telco in Australia announced new data limits for some of its postpaid plans. The company’s plan to boost data on its fixed and mobile plans and the introduction of new data packs came as a relief to the data hungry customers who considered Telstra expensive

According to ZDNet, customers signing up for a Telstra handset or ‘Bring Your Own’ device (BYO)  plan, as of April 9, will get additional data ranging between 500MB to 7GB on their plan. Customers paying AU$95 under the Mobile Accelerate handset plan will get 3.5GB per month in addition to their monthly 2.5GB per month. Customers under the AU$130 per month plan (who used to receive 3GB per month) will now get 10 GB per month.

Telstra has offered attractive benefits under its BYO scheme. The $45 a month plan, now gets a total of 2GB (additional 1.5GB of data), the $55 a month plan, now gets a total of 3.5GB (additional 2GB of data), the $70 a month plan now gets a total of 6GB (additional 3.5GB data) and the $95 a month plan now gets a total of 10GB (additional 7GB data).

The 32 GB Galaxy S6 will be available for no extra handset repayments both on the $95 Mobile Accelerate and $100 Easy Share Business plans, in which, customers stay connected for over 2 years (24 months) with 6GB data per month, as per reports.

The 32 GB Galaxy S6 Edge will be available at an additional cost of $4 per month on the $95 Mobile Accelerate plan and an additional $2 per month on the $100 Easy Share Business plan. Telstra is also offering a video-on-demand subscription from Presto for six months with all new and renewed Mobile Accelerate and Easy Share Business plans from 9 April, reports technology website Business IT.
