FBR for dealing strictly with non-compliant taxpayers

ISLAMABAD: During a survey launched in the city 2,059 non-compliant taxpayers have been removed from the Active Taxpayers List by Federal Board of Revenue. Furthermore, tax authorities have been directed to deal with them strictly.

FBR has implemented an enforcement plan in Lahore to improve tax collection from manufacturers of automobiles, motorcycles, electronic goods, auto-parts and departmental stores’ chains.

Sources said that the decision has been implemented during a performance review (July-December) 2013-14 of Regional Tax Office-II by FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa during his visit to Lahore. Tax authorities expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the RTO-II Lahore in a number of areas as reflected from the decisions taken by FBR Chairman during Lahore visit.

The FBR Chairman & Member IR (Operation) discussed the issue of low growth in income tax collection during first half of 2013-14. It was observed that collection with income tax returns had shown almost 31 percent decrease than last years. FBR has issued directions to the Chief Commissioner RTO-II Lahore to enhance income tax collection by taking effective enforcement measures.
