HSBC names Lewis Sun head of payments and cash management in China

ROME: Lewis Sun has been appointed as Head of Payments and Cash Management (PCM) for HSBC in China. In his role, he will work closely with both HSBC’s Commercial Banking and Global Banking businesses to drive business growth in China.

With 18 years of banking and IT experience, Lewis joined the China PCM team in 2002 as a product manager. He was later seconded to Hong Kong as a regional sales manager before moving to Shenzhen in 2008 to head up HSBC’s Southern China team. Since his return to Shanghai in 2010, Lewis has been a core member of China’s PCM management team covering a few critical roles including Head of Product, Head of Sales and most recently Head of Global Banking Corporate Sales.

Lewis succeeded Kee Joo Wong who was recently appointed as Regional Head of PCM for HSBC Asia Pacific. In his new role, Lewis reports functionally to Kee Joo Wong and locally to Terence Chiu, Head of Commercial Banking, HSBC China, and the Head of Global Banking and Markets, HSBC China.

Kee Joo Wong commented on Lewis’ appointment, “Lewis’ thorough understanding of the Greater China market landscape and his dedication to helping our clients address their treasury challenges are well recognized. Over the last five years, Lewis has played an instrumental role in maintaining close relationships with clients and regulators in China. As China continues to drive the global economy, Lewis will be instrumental in contributing to HSBC’s growth strategy in Asia.”
