TEHRAN: Iran Petrochemical Employers Association’s Secretary General, Ahmad Mahdavi, said that Iran has planned to boost annual petrochemical exports to the European Union countries to $5 billion if the sanctions imposed on the country are lifted.
The country’s annual exports of petrochemical and polymer products to the EU members were about $2 billion before the imposition of the sanctions.
The country currently exports petrochemical and polymer products to Europe in single shipments, the official mentioned.
He said there will be also possibility of purchasing and transferring technical knowledge, as well as licensing and opening finance credit lines in the wake of sanctions removal.
Iran is currently exporting petrochemical and polymer products to Africa, South America; East, Southeast, and Central Asia; the Middle East, and Turkey, the official stated.
Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) signed a framework nuclear deal in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Iran agreed in principle to accept significant restrictions on its nuclear facilities for at least a decade and submit to international inspections under the framework deal. In return, international sanctions on Iran’s economy would be lifted in phases.
