Multan ASO, I&I seize smuggled items worth Rs 30 million

MULTAN: Anti-Smuggling Organization and Customs Intelligence & Investigation Multan conducted various operations in the city and seized smuggled goods worth Rs 30 million.

This was stated by Model Customs Collectorate Multan Collector Dr.Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich in a press conference. Sarfraz said that department received information about the banned items, stored in three different warehouses of the city and conducted a joint operation to confiscate them after proper investigations.

He explained that the warehouses were located at Jail Road Chowk, Shahbaz-Pir Colony and Industrial Estate Multan areas of Multan. He added that three different teams were formed to raid the warehouses simultaneously to make this operation successful.

Anti-Smuggling Organization Assistant Collector Faizan Badar with his team comprising  Superintendent Ali Akbar, Muhammad Farooq , Ghulam Raza and Muhammad Umer raided a warehouse situated near Jail Road Multan and recovered 1310 bags of Iranian origin Powdered Milk, 500 bags of Indian Glucose, 700 drums of Petroleum Products, wax oil and motor oil worth Rs 16 million.

Similarly, the second raid was conducted by Customs I&I under the supervision of Additional Director Nisar Ahmad near Chowk Shahbaz Pir Colony and recovered 297 drums of smuggled wax oil, while the owner of warehouse did not accept its ownership. Custom Superintendent Fareed ud din Masood, Saleem Afzal, Muhammad Younas and Zulfiqar participated in this operation.

Another team of Customs teams raided the warehouse of Industrial Estate under the command of Collector Customs Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich and Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa along-with other staff including Superintendent Tanvir Malik Zia ur Rehman, Rana Anwar, Amjad Pervaiz Muhammad Umer and found 400 drums of smuggled wax oil.

Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich said that operations were non-violent and effective in its outcomes as it recovered huge amount of smuggled goods from the warehouses located in the city.

He informed that Federal Board of Revenue has directed all the field collectorates to work jointly for curbing the menace of smuggling in the region.
