Volkswagen teases GTI Supersport to compete in Vision Gran Turismo Game

WOLFSBURG: Volkswagen has handed down a first glimpse of its new GTI Supersport concept, destined to compete in the virtual Vision Gran Turismo video game.

This new video, combined with a handful of shadowy teaser images, offers a first look at what’s to come, and we may also see a ‘real world’ example of the Supersport concept at next month’s Worthersee GTI tour.

The images hint at a heavily re-imagined design of the new Golf 7 GTI, with agressive new bumpers and aero components at both ends, broad venting in the bonnet and roof, and a deeply sculpted character line through the profile.

This new GTI concept will be Volkswagen’s second for the Gran Turismo PlayStation game’s 15 year Vision GT celebration.

In May last year, Volkswagen revealed the GTI Roadster concept, which featured a similar array of aggressive features and a low-cut roofless design.

Details for this new hatch concept’s powertrain are still to be revealed, but motivation in the virtual Roadster version was provided by a 3.0 litre VR6 petrol engine churning out a huge 370kW and 665Nm.

Matched to a seven-speed DSG auto and all-wheel-drive package, Volkswagen says the Roadster should be capable of completing a 0-100km/h run in just 3.9 seconds.
