KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has received the first ATR 70 aircraft as the jet landed in Karachi on Saturday.
PIA Chairman Nasir Jaffar Rahman and employees of the national flag carrier welcome the plane, which was leased by the PIA, at the airport. Speaking to the media the PIA chairman said aircrafts would now be taken on a dry not wet lease. He added that the government has provided $52 million for the uplift of PIA and this money would not have been invested if the intention was to sell PIA. The ATR 70 has a capacity of 70 passengers and seven other aircrafts will be leased by PIA.
