TOKYO: A Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Mitsubishi is planning to build a large crossover to expand its lineup, as a company executive has confirmed at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
Mitsubishi has fallen behind its competition after failing with the new Outlander generation, forgetting about the Pajero, thinking about dropping the Lancer Evo from the upcoming generation and not upgrading the ASX. But it has the Space Star, which is better than walking. Jokes aside, Mitsubishi is looking to expand its vehicle lineup. The announcement has been made during the 2015 New York Auto Show, by Don Swearingen, the Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president, who has spoken to AutoGuide.
“We are studying a bigger crossover. We haven’t made a decision if we’ll bring it to the U.S., but those studies will be concluded in the next six months”, said the company’s official.
Mitsubishi has pulled the wraps off the facelifted Outlander at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The mid-size SUV is bringing an improved styling, a new front fascia, a new rear end, some modifications made to the cabin where there is an upgraded infotainment system, new trim, higher quality headliner, improved seats and a new steering wheel. Electric power steering, improved chassis, redesigned suspension, improved weather stripping, additional sound deadening material, noise-isolating windshield and others have also been added. Two different petrol engines can be found, a 2.4L four-cylinder with 166 HP (123 kW) & 219 Nm (162 lb-ft) and a 3.0L V6, producing 224 HP (167 kW & 291 Nm (215 lb-ft).
