LONDON: Jawbone has been announced that the UP3 fitness tracker will begin shipping to customers who have pre-ordered from April 20.

Explaining the reasons for the delay, Jawbone wrote a blog post. It read, “When we announced UP3 late last year we were confident we would start mass production of the device and begin shipping within a few weeks of the announcement. However, as we began to scale our manufacturing process it became clear that, while most units passed our high quality bar, a proportion did not. Specifically, we were not achieving the level of water resistance we had passed in the design and initial production stages.”

This means that the device is splash resistant but won’t be suited for swimming or other activities involving heavy doses of water exposure. The fitness tracker boasts of features such as a heart rate sensor.

Jawbone has claimed that this is the most accurate such sensor available on any wearable technology today. There is also a Smart Coach feature which suggests activities to you based on your daily movements. The device is also touted to last seven days on a single full charge.  The Jawbone UP3 is selling for $180 (Rs.11, 708) from the official site of the company, and is presently only available in the US.
