SYDNEY: The first Tesla Motors Supercharger station in Australia that’s not in the middle of Sydney has been confirmed and approved, and it’s slated for Goulburn in New South Wales’ Southern Tablelands. Part of an entirely free, nationwide, high speed electric vehicle battery charger network, the set of eight Superchargers in Goulburn will come online before June.

The giant electric company is addressing the concern in Australia with the announcement that it will be constructing a supercharger station in Goulburn between Sydney and Canberra. This is the first step by Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) to facilitate long distance travels between some of the most populated cities in Australia, which it hopes will have an impact on its Model S demand.

Supercharging sales

Superchargers are a key consideration before consumer’s place an order for Tesla Motors Inc Model S as no one would wish to run out of charge in the middle of nowhere. The new charger is to be located off the Hume Highway allowing drivers to add up to 270 kilometers of EV charge or full charge while on route either way. The charging time will be approximately an hour for eight usable charge points.

There are also plans to expand the supercharging network in Australia with a view of stretching the network from Sydney, down to Melbourne and north to Brisbane. This is part of a larger plan to attract potential buyers by assuring them they won’t run out of charge while on the road.

Calming range anxiety

Tesla Motors Inc currently has two charging stations in Australia both in Sydney, meaning potential buyers living outside the capital cannot be able to own the electric car out of fear of running out of charge without an alternative charging station.

The automaker has also changed its model line up a move intended to ensure free access to charging stations to all buyers. Tesla operates 300 supercharger stations complimented by 1600 individual superchargers. China is the other key marketplace where Tesla Motors Inc is addressing the range anxiety debacle with the construction of more charging stations.
