NAB Chief orders to establish ‘Monitoring System’ within 75 days

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has ordered to establish Accountability and Monitoring System (AMS) within 75 days to detect violators within department.

AMS will utilize a system of check and balance to trace out ‘black sheep’ within the national corruption watchdogs.

The NAB chairman issued the directives while chairing a special meeting of bureau’s Director Generals (DGs) and Deputy Prosecutor Generals (DPGs) on Monday.

The meeting reviewed the performance of NAB’s all Regional Bureaus and discussed establishment of an effective Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System. The meeting also comprehensively discussed the operational methodology of NAB.

DG Operations NAB Headquarters briefed the participants of meeting about the functioning of watchdog’s operational methodology for the verification of complaints and completion of inquiries and investigations under National Accountability Ordinance 1999.

The NAB chief emphasized on all investigation officers to ensure making of a diary of the cases they work on, which would be reviewed by the authorities concerned. He also directed regional offices to make a separate register which mentions the details of the activities of investigation officers.

The meeting decided that a special monitoring cell would be set up in the office of Prosecutor General to ensure to implementation of Supreme Court’s orders while Deputy Prosecutor General will oversee matters pertaining to High Court.

Ch. Qamar Zaman directed DGs to make up an action plan on monthly basis so the performance of NAB could be improved to achieve its targets.
