US imports, exports of Brass Mill products dropped to 34.1 million

SEATTLE: According to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC), the imports and exports of brass mill products by the US declined during the month of February this year.

According to data, the US imports of brass mill products during February this year totaled 34.1 million lb, sharply lower by 11% when compared with 38.2 million lb imports registered during February 2014.

The main exporter of brass mill products to the US during Feb ‘15 was Germany. The total imports from Germany during the month totaled 7.3 million lb. South Korea followed Germany with total exports to US amounting to 5.5 million lb. In third place was Mexico. The brass mill products imports by the US from Mexico totaled 5.1 million lb.

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 9.4 million lb in February. All pipe and tube products imports totaled 12.9 million lb. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 9 million lb. Copper alloy wire imports totaled 2.8 million lb.

In accordance with the data released by the CBFC, the US exports of brass mill products totaled 20.8 million lb in Feb ‘15, marginally lower by 2.6% from the exports of 21.4 million lb during the same month last year.

The leading destination of US brass mill products in February this year was Mexico. The exports to Mexico totaled nearly 8.9 million lb, followed by Canada with 5.2 million lb. The other leading export destinations were Saudi Arabia (751,480 lb), China (685,236 lb) and Hong Kong (632,127 lb).

Exports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 8.1 million lb in Feb ‘15. All pipe and tube products exports totaled 3.2 million lb. Exports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 7.5 million lb. Copper alloy wire exports totaled 2 million lb.
