CBP OFO arrests Virginia man on fraud charges in Washington

NEW YORK: US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), at Washington Dulles International Airport arrested a US citizen who was wanted by the Fairfax, Va., Police Department for obtaining money by false pretense.

Hung Dinh Nguyen, 64, of Fairfax, arrived on a flight from China. CBP officers determined Nguyen to be subject to an arrest warrant issued by the Fairfax Police Department for obtaining money by false pretense. CBP officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition. CBP officers arrested Nguyen and turned him over to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police officers for extradition.

“The United States is a welcoming nation however; CBP remains ever vigilant in intercepting those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny,” said Wayne Biondi CBP Area Port Director for the Port of Washington Dulles.

CBP conducts inspection operations and intercepts currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products and other illicit items, and on average arrests 21 wanted persons a day at U.S. Ports of entry nationwide.

Travelers are encouraged to visit CBP’s Travel website to learn rules governing travel to and from the US

Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
